Winter Poetry

This year my kids had so much fun reading, reciting and creating their own poems. Reading poetry is fun, engaging, and challenging. It helps struggling readers with fluency by using repetition and it helps proficient readers with inflection and encourages them to get creative and come up with their own poems.
We studied rhyming patterns, alliteration, haikus, acrostic poems, and limericks.

  3. This is such a great idea! I'm definitely going to be doing this with my class. I'm always looking for seasonal themed ideas for our door and bulletin boards that have nothing to do with holidays, as not everyone in our class celebrates the same holidays or any at all.
