Our Newest Addition :)

So I can't really keep this to myself anymore. Ryan and I have been talking about adding a new member to the family for a couple years now and last week we finally took the plunge and found this sweet boy.

Meet Zeus-- a blue pit bull rescued from the Garland animal shelter. He was surrendered by his owner and is severely emaciated. It is a kill shelter and he would have been euthanized within days of being there.

We named him for the lightning bolt on his neck.

Here he is at 43lbs... poor baby. :(

We know his road to recovery will be rough. It is going to take a lot of food :) , training, and support to get him healthy. I feel like a new parent, trying to figure out how to handle adding a new member to our family.
Ryan signing the adoption papers :)

Dee meeting Zeus for the first time.

Our first dog, Delilah, has become the bratty big sister. She definitely feels that she has to compete for our attention and show that she's the dominant one. She loves crawling in between Ryan and Zeus.

She has also been playing musical chairs with her old bed, her new bed, and Zeus's bed.

Zeus finally got a little revenge.

This week has been emotional, stressful, entertaining, exciting, and totally worth it. Stay tuned. :)

Celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr.

Sorry for the late post but I had a conversation with my kiddos on Tuesday about the events of Monday. It was such a great moment to get to talk about Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy and President Obama's inauguration. We watched a video about MLK's life and then had a discussion about why he was important to the civil rights movement. We then tied it into today where we discussed how we can all go to school together and we have the same opportunities. We also discussed their future and I mentioned that now we are working towards men and women getting paid the same amount for doing the same jobs and that we want everyone to be treated equally regardless of skin color, hair color, background, clothing, personal life choices, etc. It was really cool to have such a real conversation with 7 and 8 year olds. This is our future generation! :)

We also made a little foldable that I saw on pinterest. Here is my spin on it and some student examples. Spelling mistakes and all, these are adorable!

We're making WAFFLES!

So for Christmas this year, my dad and stepmom bought us a legit belgian waffle maker.
 It is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

We rarely wake up and make breakfast but this machine has changed everything. Now because I don't plan to gain 100 pounds, we have been pinning and experimenting with some different healthy waffle recipes. Check out my pins here. :)

We'll keep you posted on our favorites! For now, I'll leave you with the pictures of our first waffle! Yes, it did come out that perfect the first time, and yes, it was delicious.

Best Moments of 2012

It was an amazing year filled with beautiful weddings, new experiences, and incredible times with friends and family. Here are my favorite moments of 2012.

We celebrated New Year's Eve at Nathan and Bekah's wedding....what a way to start 2012!

Ryan and I both turned 25 this year! We're halfway to 50... not sure if I should be excited about that.

My beautiful, talented sister became a HIP-HOP CHAMPION!
The MCC dance team won at NDA and ADTS nationals.

We went to so many weddings. It was amazing to witness so much love in 2012!

Arianna & Mark

Morgan & Evan

Emily & Josh

Joanna & Eric

Ryan and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary in JAMAICA! It was incredible. :)

Teaching second grade is the best. I am so blessed to be where I am doing what I love.

My coworkers are amazing. I am lucky to be friends with them and to have the honor of teaching with them. We are also lucky to have Kristin on our team this year because she gets us to do crazy things like the Color in Motion 5k!

I love Scott and Drew. We have made so many memories this year. I am so thankful for you both.

We actually dressed up for Halloween this year!

Football season is always fun but I had so much to be proud of with Texas A&M's debut in the SEC. I bleed maroon but as you know, I married into a Baylor family. Some of my favorite memories from 2012 are at the Baylor games and homecoming!

We also pulled off our first annual Whobilation!

This past year was filled with so many great memories. I am excited to see what 2013 brings!
Happy New Year!
